France - Corlac House

For the week long Wood family reunion we stayed at Corlac House near Souillac. The house is located in the countryside of France's south-west region near the Dordogne River and close to a small village named Sarrazac. Oddly somehow there are two towns in the South-west region of France named Sarrazac.  Despite being forewarned of this, Kingsley and I still managed to enter the wrong Sarrazac into the GPS so we had a 2-3 hour detour at the end of our 6 hour drive from Annecy.  Needless to say it was a long day in the car and since I am not a qualified manual shift driver Kingsley had to drive the whole thing but I kept him pumped up with my country music playlist!

Here we are stuck behind a tractor on the windy roads to the Corlac house.

When we finally made it to the correct Sarrazac and Corlac house we had an incredible week of feasting, swimming, reconnecting with family and touring the beautiful countryside.

A few of the days were spent sitting by the beautiful stone pool, playing badminton, lawn bowls, and cards in the evening and we ate most of our meals alfresco by the pool.

There were some beautiful medieval villages near by where we went to visit the local markets, enjoy a meal or simply wander aimlessly taking in the beauty of the French countryside.

This was our room for the week

The Corlac house was completely renovated in 2001, we found out about the house from Kingsley's Aunt Dee who is good friends with the woman who manages the property.

The house was just the perfect place to spend a week relaxing in France

The house had a cool cellar/dungeon area
