The last six weeks we have had a full house at the Wood family foster kitten farm! A total of 5 kittens all from different litters and ranging from age 2 weeks to 8 weeks, was a bit of handful but also incredibly fun. These little guys bring so much joy to my life, Kingsley says he can tell when I am on the phone with the SPCA because I sound like a child excited to finally meet Santa...and that is exactly how I feel!

Little Luna was found in a storm drain and was brought to me at 2 weeks old. This meant round the clock bottle feedings (every 2-3 hours) which is an exhausting but incredibly rewarding experience. It was incredible to watch her grow and thrive the few weeks she was in my care. Luna is now thriving and loving life with her forever family.

Our latest kitten, Mr. Marmalade was found by the side of a major freeway (PIE) at the age of 3 weeks old. Skin and bones with no mother in sight, a good Sammaritan brought him to the SPCA, who promptly called me to see if I was ready for another kitten project. I don't normally agree to take only one kitten. They are SO much more work than two or more as you have to be their everything and they become very very attached. In fact as I am writing this now Mr. Marmalade is taking a nap at my feet and will sleep happily as long as he is touching me. The minute I move he will wake up to follow me to wherever I am going next. It may sound endearing but it gets old, fast!
But something about how the SPCA was asking, I knew I was meant to care for this kitten.

To celebrate Kingsley's birthday this year I made arrangements to try out two new trendy spots in the city.
Smoke and Mirrors is a rooftop bar perched on top of the Old Supreme Court Building with unblocked panoramic views of the Padang and Marina Bay. That alone is reason enough to visit, but in addition the drinks are unique and delicious.
Later we walked across the bridge to Boat Quay to have dinner at
Kantanashi, an authentic casual Japanese Tapas restaurant that I had recently read great reviews about. I reserved a table right for us along the river which although it was outside and without aircon, ended up being just perfect. And that is how we had another memorable yet low key (per birthday boys request) birthday celebration together.

During her visit to Singapore, Shelley and I took a quick girls trip to Phi Phi island which was nothing short of paradise. We stayed at
Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort which I would highly recommend to anyone considering a trip to Phi Phi. Our days were spent lounging by the pool, kayaking, snorkeling, eating massive quantities of the mouth watering Pad See Ew (ok maybe that was more me than Shelley), dressing up like twins for breakfast just for shock value (it WAS AWESOME), and dreamy "couples" massages (cannot recommend Eg and Poo highly enough).
There are two ways to get on the island. The first is the local ferry which takes 3 hours from Phuket to get to Phi Phi. The second option is the resort speed boat which only takes an hour. Though a bit more expensive, the resort speed boat was a no brainer for us and, if you ever plan to visit Phi Phi, should be for you as well.

My beautiful friend Shelley, who keeps me feeling young and trendy, finally made it to Singapore for an action packed two week visit. It was rewarding to show her my life in Singapore, to introduce her to my friends here, and to see my new home through her fresh perspective. We had a wonderful time at the typical touristy spots like Marina Bay Sands, Chinatown, and the Botanical Gardens.
But it was the time just spent hanging out that, for me, was the best. Shelley is a woman who is blessed to be talented with a plethora of amazing skills. One of these happens to include being an incredible make-up artist. I am still not sure how I somehow won the lottery but, (by some stroke of luck) years ago, Shelley decided to take this frosty white eye shadow, no lipstick, ponytail wearing project under her wing. Over the years, bit by bit, carefully, as if approaching a skittish horse, Shelley has introduced me to the art of: curling eye lashes, curling hair, dry hair shampoo, best friend color...the list goes on and on and on!
Not only did Shelley arrive in Singapore with generous gifts of eyeshadow and liner for me but, with the calm fortitude of a monk seeking enlightenment, Shelley faithfully continued her monumental commitment to project Lynn. Fighting jet lag and a stomach unsure about Asian cuisine, Shelley braided my hair, made sure I was wearing blush each day and gently but firmly chastised me for my lack of lipstick and lipgloss color varieties which required an urgent trip to Sephora to rectify. I still have so much to learn!
We packed so much into her visit but an epic girls night out at CeLaVi and our afternoon people watching at Tanjong Beach Club were a highlight. I also had a Bitmoji created for me by Shelley, if you don't know what that is, don't feel too bad, I had absolutely no clue either, though now I feel that I am very in vogue. Please see below and note how my Bitmoji would NEVER EVER...EVER forget to apply blush or lipstick!

Ever since Marina Bay Sands opened its doors to the public, I've been wanting to check out the rooftop pool which is the highest and largest rooftop Infinity Pool in the world and has been featured in many international documentaries. Unfortunately, the pool access rules are very strict with only guests staying in the hotel being allowed access to the pool. Luckily, last week a friend was staying in the hotel and very kindly offered me her spare keycard so I could enjoy an afternoon with her at the pool. Though it was a bit of a cloudy day, we had a lovely time at the pool with people watching from our lounge chairs being a highlight. The sky cleared up in time for a stunning sunset.
