China - Xizhazi Village

Towards the end of our stunning hike along the Great Wall - we began to hear thunder in the distance and watched rain clouds gathering. That was our cue to head back down the mountain! 


Of course we only made it about 50% of the way down the mountain before the heavens opened and it started pouring with rain.

Back in the village.  Drenched but happy and safe.
 Our guide invited us back to his house to dry off and enjoy some fresh watermelon.

Our guide was a man of many talents - I think it takes quite some skill to smoke a cigarette while chopping a watermelon.
