Sticker shock

Singapore is expensive, there is just no getting around it. Especially after spending a few weeks in the States where everything is SUPER cheap. For example, this afternoon I met my friend Lisa for lunch and ordered a salad which was $16. For $16 in the States you would get a HUGE salad with all sorts of good stuff in it. However in Singapore, the salad I received was the equivalent of a small side salad in the States. It was an okay salad but I think it will take me another week or 2 (or maybe 3) to start to forget about the wonderful salads in the States and convince my mind to stop comparing.
Another super frustrating thing about Singapore is the super high taxes on alcohol. Here is a quick glimpse into my sticker shock whenever shopping for wine...

Price in Seattle...

Price in Singapore....
(with exchange rate = $21.07 USD) and that is the sale price!!
