Christmas Eve we were the only campervan with Christmas lights and the envy of the Marahau campsite.

We spent Christmas day at Split Apple Rock beach.  Its a quiet hidden beach located just outside Abel Tasman National Park.   One of the owners of a winery told us to check out this beach and we are so thankful he did, it was our favorite beach in NZ.

Be prepared though, its about a 15 minute hike (steep downhill - which means uphill all the way back to the car) through the woods from the road to the beach. We packed a beautiful picnic lunch and spent the afternoon lounging on the beach and enjoying the view.
