Diner en Blanc Singapore
Diner en Blanc marks the worldʼs first viral event, originating 24 years ago, a très chic picnic imported from Paris and now taking hold in outdoor public spaces in 20 cities across 5 continents in 2012, from Barcelona to New York City, from Montreal to Sydney.
Singapore was the FIRST Asian City to host this prestigious world-renown viral secret pop-up picnic and Kingsley and I were two of the 888 people on the guest list.

But rules were strict. Everyone must wear white - not ivory, not cream - white. We were instructed to bring our own food (three course meal), table, chairs and "table finery" —all en blanc, of course. Oh, and we had to make sure the white attire was "formal."
After a little bit of convincing Kingsley finally agreed to wear his white shoes we then took a few quick photos at home and we were off to the Stadium MRT meeting point to board the buses that would take us to the secret picnic location.
Walking through the Marina Bay Sands shopping center we still had no idea where we were going. Finally we arrived at the "secret location" - the promenade outside the Art Science Museum in front of the Marina Bay Sands - such a stunning location!
The night really glowed when the tables were all laid out - I had prepared cheese, smoked salmon and crackers, a quiche and white Tim Tams for dessert.
With a grand flourish and a mass waving of white napkins, our three-course picnic dinner began.
Throughout the evening the overall mood was very festive. People who came were clearly there to have a great time. With new friends, great food, and lots of Champagne to go around, the night was a success.
The most enjoyable part of the evening was the mingling – even though many diners came in groups (the invitation is via-friends-only), most people were there with a positive open mind to make more friends, and just, to have fun. We laughed, shared stories, poured Champagne for each other, and exchanged food.
A nice overview video from the evening.
