Singapore National Day 2012

Last weekend we enjoyed a great evening picnic with friends to celebrate Singapore's 47th National Day.  There is a new park by our house called Gardens by the Bay East which has a fantastic view of the city. Kingsley and I often walk there (5min from our house) in the evenings after dinner or go for early morning or late evening (during the daytime is just too hot!) runs along the promenade.  It was a perfect location to watch the fireworks.

Lots of other families enjoying picnics in the park

We were obviously not the only ones with the great idea to catch the fireworks from the park. The entire pathway was lined with tripods and cameras.

Little Lucas is 5 months old already!

Such a beautiful city!

Only in Singapore would you find hundreds of families enjoy a picnic in the park and a fireworks show and at the end of the night find not one piece of litter anywhere.  The trash bins were all filled to capacity but the park was spotless!

Singapores population has been on the decline for a while.  A recent study published stated that they are trying to get the birth rate up from 1.15 to 1.85.  How do they plan to do this?  Watch the video below!
