Cambodia - Clinics
First day of clinic we arrived to find hundreds of patients waiting in the hot sun to be seen by our team. With only myself and one other MD on the team able to see patients I was a little intimidated by the task. And yes the thought "what I have I gotten myself into" did cross my mind...many times!
My little exam room had one of the few working fans - one of the local dogs figured this out and made his home under my exam table.
The day started off a little rocky as the sickest patients were the first to be seen but over time we got into a good clinic flow. Between Dr. Susy and I we saw around 300 patients per day. It was mentally, physically and emotional draining but also incredibly rewarding.
Two short video clips showing patients waiting outside the clinics and the pharmacy volunteers in action.
